As
John the apostle continued to share about the “tribulation” that
was to come upon the earth, he shared concerning the six seals Jesus
removed from the “scroll” in God's right hand. He continued to
write about what happened when Jesus,
“had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the
space of half an hour. And I saw the seven angels which stood before
God; and to them were given seven trumpets. And another angel came
and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given
unto him much incense, that he should offer it
with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before
the throne. And the smoke of the incense, which
came
with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the
angel's hand. And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire
of the altar, and cast it
into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and
lightnings, and an earthquake”,
and
in
chapter eight and verse six John saw how “the
seven angels ... prepared themselves to sound” where
we read:
And
the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to
sound.
The
verse reads, “And
the seven angels which had the seven trumpets ...”
John
began with the words, “and
the seven angels”
which means “the seven messengers, envoys or ones sent who stood
before the throne of God” “which
had”
or “who held, owned and possessed” “the
seven trumpets” which
means “the seven quavering and reverberating instruments”. John
refocused upon the “seven
angels”
with “seven trumpets”.
The
verse goes on to say, “... prepared
themselves to sound.” John
added the word, “prepared”
which means “made ready” “themselves”
which means “the angels own selves” “to
sound”
or “to blast” their trumpets. John watched as the “seven
angels with seven trumpets”
made themselves ready to blast their horns.
When
we think through John's words in this verse, we see how he refocused
upon the “seven angels with seven trumpets” who stood
before God's throne. At this moment the “angels” were
preparing to “blast” their instruments and launch the second
phase of the “tribulation” upon the earth. When the “seventh
seal” upon the “scroll” is “unfastened” by Jesus, the
“seven trumpets” began to sound, and the trumpets sounding
signals another time of God's wrath being poured out upon the earth.
Though God desires to “save” people through His Son Jesus from
from this time, when the “trumpets sound” His judgment
will fall and people shall know His wrath against their sin.
Next
time
John shares what happened when “the
first angel sounded”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

tomorrow…there is more…
