As
John the apostle continued to share about the “tribulation” that
was to come upon the earth, he shared concerning the first six seals
Jesus removed from the “scroll” in God's right hand. He wrote
about what happened when Jesus,
“had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the
space of half an hour. And I saw the seven angels which stood before
God; and to them were given seven trumpets … And the seven angels
which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound. The first,
second, third, fourth and fifth angels” blew
their trumpets, and great judgment fell upon the earth. John
continued, “And
the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of
the golden altar which is before God,
Saying
to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which
are bound in the great river Euphrates, and the four angels were
loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and
a year, for to slay the third part of men.”
In chapter nine and verse sixteen of Revelation John shared “the
number of the army of the horsemen” where
we read:
And
the number of the army of the horsemen were
two hundred thousand thousand:
and
I heard the number of them.
The
verse reads, “And
the number of the army of the horsemen were
two hundred thousand thousand:”
John
began with the words, “and
the number”
which refers to “a fixed and definite reckoned amount” “of
the army”
or “of the band of soldiers, bodyguards and guards men” “of
the horsemen” which
refers to “the equestrian force or cavalry” “were
two hundred thousand thousand”
or “two hundred million horsemen”. John saw and army of “two
hundred million” “soldiers” under the leadership of the “four
angels”
which were “freed” from the “river Euphrates”.
The
verse goes on to say, and
I heard the number of them.”
John
added the words, “and
I heard”
which means “John the apostle was given the faculty to hear,
perceive and understand” “the
number”
or “the fixed and definite reckoned amount” “of
them”
which means “of the two hundred million horsemen”. John overheard
the “amount” of “soldiers” who were part of this massive army
assembled to carry out death and destruction upon the earth.
When
we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we can only imagine such
an massive army assembled together for war. “Two hundred million”
will be assembled together to “kill” one third of the earth's
population, and these “four angels” shall be in charge of
them. What devastation, horror, death and destruction the world and
its inhabitants shall incur from this two hundred million man army.
Oh that people would give their hearts and lives to Jesus Christ
God's Son who has promised to give “everlasting life” and
“salvation” to everyone who puts their “faith and trust” in
Him, and yet, many shall refuse. People who are living at this time
and reject Jesus Christ shall face these “two hundred million
horsemen”, and “woe” be to those who attempt to avoid
their overwhelming power.
Next
time John
describes, “them
that sat on” “the horses”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
