After
the worship scene in heaven where “the
Lamb”
of God received the “scroll” in God's right hand, the beginning
of the tribulation came upon the earth began and John the apostle
“saw
when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the
noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. And I
saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and
a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to
conquer,
and
when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say,
Come and see. And
there went out another horse that
was
red: and power
was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and
that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a
great sword. And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third
beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he
that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. And I heard a
voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a
penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see
you hurt not the oil and the wine.”,
and in chapter six and verse seven of Revelation John heard the
“fourth
beast”
instruct him to “come
and see”
where
we read:
And
when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth
beast say, Come and see.
The
verse reads, “And
when he had opened the fourth seal, ...”
John
began with the words, “and
when”
which means “at the time and moment” “he
had opened” which
means “Jesus unfastened and loosed” “the
fourth seal” or
“the fourth signet seal”.
John watched as Jesus “loosened” the “fourth signet seal”
from the “scroll” He received from God.
The
verse goes on to say, “... I
heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.” John
continued with the words, “I
heard”
which means “John was endowed with the faculty of hearing,
attending to, considering, understanding and perceiving” “the
voice”
or “the tone or sound of uttered words, language and tongue” “of
the fourth beast”
or “the fourth living being” “say”
which
means “uttered, declared and proclaimed”, “Come”
or “make appearance, arise, show yourself and be established”
“and
see” which
means “perceive, notice, discern, discover and observe”. John
paid close attention as he heard the “fourth living being” before
God's throne instruct him to “make his appearance and observe”.
When
we think through John's words in this verse, we see now the
unfastening of the “fourth” of the “signet seals” that
were on the “book” which Jesus received from God. This
time the “fourth living being” or “cherubim” instructed John
to “come and see” what would happen. This progressive
unveiling of the destruction to come upon the earth was God's way of
showing John what He was going to do, and though God desires for
every person to have a relationship with Him through His Son Jesus,
one day He will unleash this “tribulation” period upon the world.
Today is the day of “salvation”, and those who are wise will
receive Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”, and those who
do not may read these words and know the devastation that is in their
future.
Next
time
John shares how he saw,
“a pale horse”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
