Abiding in Galilee - John 7:9

The apostle John wrote how Jesus said, “My time is not yet come: but your time is always ready. The world cannot hate you; but me it hates, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil. Go you up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come”, and in chapter seven and verse nine of his book, John shared how Jesus, “abode still in Galilee” where we read:

When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee.

The verse reads,When he had said these words unto them, ...” John began with the words, “when he had said these words” or “at the time and moment Jesus uttered, declared and proclaimed His words about going up to the feast” “unto them” which means “to His brothers”. John referred to the “time” Jesus declared these words to His brothers.

The verse goes on to say, “... he abode still in Galilee.” John continued with the words, “he abode still” which means “Jesus dwelled, remained, tarried and continued” “in Galilee” or “within the name of a region of northern Palestine, bounded on the north by Syria, on the west by Sidon, Tyre, Ptolemais and their territories and the promontory of Carmel, on the south by Samaria and on the east by the Jordan whose name means circuit”. John told how Jesus “continued to stay” in the region of “Galilee” after telling His brothers to go to the feast in Judaea.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus instructed His brothers to go to “Judaea”, but He remained in the “Galilee” area. Jesus knew the timing for all He would do to bring about the “salvation” of mankind. Though His brothers could move freely about the area of Judaea, He could not, and He would not allow the people to disrupt His order. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to be the “Savior and Lord” of every person who will put their faith and trust in Him, and in order for “sins” to be forgiven and a person to go to heaven, they must submit their lives to Him. Let all who read these words carefully think through the deliberate acts and non-acts of Jesus because He followed them meticulously for people to be “saved”.

Next time John shares, “when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
