Go, and Sin No More - John 8:11

The apostle John wrote how, “Jesus went unto the mount of Olives. And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them. And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, they say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what say you? This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those your accusers? has no man condemned you?, and in chapter eight and verse eleven John shared how Jesus told the woman, neither do I condemn you: go, and sin no more where we read:

She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn you: go, and sin no more.

The verse reads,She said, No man, Lord.” John began with the words, “she said” which means “the woman caught in adultery uttered, declared and proclaimed”, “no man, Lord” or “not any person, One to whom a person or thing belongs, about which he has power of deciding; master and the title given to God the Messiah”. John shared how the “woman caught in adultery” addressed Jesus as “Lord” when she told Him there wasn't anyone who “condemned” her.

The verse goes on to say, And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn you: go, and sin no more.” John continued with the words, “and Jesus said unto her” which means “and the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is Salvation uttered, declared and proclaimed to the woman”, “neither do I condemn you” or “no and not in any way do I, Jesus, judge against, damn or render you, woman, as wicked”: “go, and sin no more” which means “depart and leave, and miss the mark, err, make a mistake, trespass or offend not henceforth, hereafter and no longer”. John shared how Jesus told the woman that He did not “judge against” her either, and He told her to “go her way” and not to “sin” anymore.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus was the only person who could have “condemned” the woman, but He did not. He was the only sinless one there, and when He could have “judged against” the woman, He set her free and instructed her not to “sin” any more. God loves people, and even when they have violated His laws, He is willing to forgive them when they humble themselves before Him. God wants to forgive the sins of people, and He instructs them to sin no more as He grants them everlasting life with Him. Let all who read these words yield to Jesus who is willing to extend His grace to everyone.

Next time John shares how Jesus says, I am the light of the world, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
