Jesus to the Mount of Olives - John 8:1

The apostle John wrote concerning Jesus how, “then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have you not brought him? The officers answered, Never man spoke like this man. Then answered them the Pharisees, Are you also deceived? Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him? But this people who knows not the law are cursed. Nicodemus said unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,) Does our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he does? They answered and said unto him, Are you also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee arises no prophet. And every man went unto his own house”, and in chapter eight and verse one of his book, John shared how,“Jesus went unto the mount of Olives, where we read:

Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.

The verse reads,Jesus went ...” John began with the word, “Jesus” which means “the Son of God, the Savior of the world and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is Salvation” “went” or “left and departed” toward the next place. John shared how Jesus left the “festival” and went toward the following destination.

The verse goes on to say, “... unto the mount of Olives.” John continued with the words, “unto the mount” which means “toward the rising of the plain or hill” “of Olives” or “belonging to the olive trees”. John shared how Jesus left the “feast” and went to the “Mount of Olives”.

When we think through John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus did not linger among those who were questioning Him and desired to “capture” Him. He left to the “Mount of Olives” where Jesus often resorted to get away from the crowds. Jesus knew His plan and timing for the “salvation” of mankind, and every step was deliberate and purposeful as He journeyed toward the cross. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to save people from their sins and grant them everlasting life. Those who are wise will consider every step Jesus took to secure the opportunity for them to know God personally.

Next time we shall see John share how, early in the morning he came again into the temple, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
