Eternal Life Given - John 10:28

The apostle John wrote, “Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch. Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long do you make us to doubt? If you be the Christ, tell us plainly. Jesus answered them, I told you, and you believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me. But you believe not, because you are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me”, and in chapter ten and verse twenty-eight of his book John shared how Jesus said, “and I give to them eternal life" where we read:

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish,

neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

The verse reads, “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, ...” John began with the words, “and I give unto them” which means “and I, Jesus, grant, bestow, furnish and supply to His sheep, disciples and followers” “eternal life” or “without beginning and ending, never to cease and everlasting life which is real and genuine, a life active and vigorous, devoted to God, blessed, in the portion even in this world of those who put their trust in Christ, but after the resurrection to be consummated by new accessions (among them a more perfect body) that lasts for ever”; “and they shall never perish” which means “and Jesus' sheep, disciples and followers will no and not at any time throughout the unbroken age, perpetuity of time and eternity be destroyed, rendered useless, killed, put to death, lost or ruined”. John shared how Jesus said He would grant and bestow upon His “believers” “life” that lasts for ever and ever.

The verse goes on to say, “... neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. John continued with the words, “neither shall any man” which means “no and not at any time will any person whether male or female” “pluck them out of my hand” or “seize, carry off by force, snatch away or take Jesus' followers and disciples from Jesus' hollowness for grasping, upholding, preserving and protecting”. John shared how Jesus declared that no one would be able to “snatch away” His “disciples and followers” from His care.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we learn about one of the greatest benefits and blessings for being a “follower” of Jesus. Jesus promised to give those who “believe and trust” in Him “everlasting and eternal life”. He also promised that “nobody” would be able to remove them from their relationship with Him. God's desire is to have an “eternal and personal” relationship with every person, and this occurs when they humble themselves and ask His Son Jesus to be their “Savior and Lord”. Once this happens, God's promise through His Son Jesus, is to provide “everlasting life” and “care and protection” that no one can violate. Let all who read these words carefully consider what Jesus said and yield their life to the only One who can give “eternal life and protection” forever and ever. Amen!

Next time John shares how Jesus says, “My Father, which gave them to me, is greater than all", so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
