In Psalms chapter two King David wrote how God said, “I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: the LORD has said unto me, You are my Son; this day have I begotten you. Ask of me, and I shall give you the heathen for your inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for your possession”, and in chapter two and verse nine of the book of Psalms David shared how God said, “you shall break them with a rod of iron” where we read,
You shall break them with a rod of iron; you shall dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
The verse begins, “You shall break them with a rod of iron;”. David began with the words, “you shall break them” or “you, Jehovah God's royal prince and Messiah, will injure, hurt and shatter the heathen nations, kings and rulers” “with a rod of iron” which means “by the use of a stick, scepter or staff made of iron ore”. David shared how Jehovah God said His “royal prince and Messiah” would “shatter” the “heathen nations, kings and rulers” by the use of a “scepter” made with iron ore which depicts harshness, strength and power”.
The verse continues, “you shall dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.” David added the words “you shall dash them in pieces” or “you, Jehovah God's royal prince and Messiah will shatter, break and pulverize the heathen nations, kings and rulers ” “like a potter's vessel” which means “similar and in likeness to an article, utensil, apparatus or object that is formed and predetermined by a maker of pottery”. David wrote how Jehovah God told His “royal prince and Messiah” that He would shatter and break the “heathen nations, kings and rulers” like a “potter” does an article of “pottery” that he has made.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how Jehovah God will give dominion of the earth to His “royal prince and Messiah Jesus) over the “heathen nations, kings and rulers” in the world. (See Daniel 2:44; Matthew 21:44; Revelation 22:6-7) Although it may appear for a time that these unbelieving rulers are in charge, God Himself will give His Son Jesus full power and authority over them. He will rule in the millennial age with a “rod of iron” where no one will be allowed to violate His law. God's Son Jesus is the “King of Kings and Lord of Lords”, and no one is greater than He. He humbled Himself to come to the earth to live as a “man” to identify with mankind. He lived a sinless life, and yet, He died on the cross for the sins of mankind. Anyone who yields to Him will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with Him in Heaven. All others will indeed be ruled over by Him, and every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. (See Isaiah 45::23 and Romans 14:11)
Next time David says, “be wise” and “be instructed”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
