Sacrifices of Righteousness and Trust in the LORD - Psalms 4:5

In Psalms chapter four David declared, “the LORD has set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him. Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah”, and in chapter four and verse five of Psalms David said, “Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD” where we read,

Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.

The verse begins, “Offer the sacrifices of righteousness,” David began with the words, “Offer the sacrifices” or “slaughter and slay the offerings” “of righteousness” which means “pertaining to justice, rightness, justification, deliverance, victory and prosperity”. David instructed those listening to and reading these words to provide, propose and render right, just and victorious offerings.

The verse goes on to say, “and put your trust in the LORD.” David continued with the words, “and put your trust” or “and place, set, fix and establish your, those reading and hearing David's words, confidence, security and hope” “in the LORD” which means “within Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. David told those listening to his words to place their confidence and hope in Jehovah God.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how a person gains an intimate relationship with God. Their “sacrifices” should be according to justice, rightness and victory”, and they place their confidence and hope in Jehovah God. God loves everyone, and this idea flowed through His Holy Spirit to David who wrote them and understood their importance in a person's life. When people believe and trust in God's Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive their sins and grant them everlasting life. He will guide them into all truth so they know how to “offer sacrifices of righteousness” and maintain their hope in the LORD. (See John 16:13) Let us call upon the Lord Jesus for the help of God's Holy Spirit to help us maintain these beautiful directives and give Him praise for making us aware of them.

Next time David says, There be many that say, Who will show us any good?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
