In Psalms chapter twenty-five David said, “Show me your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth, and teach me: for you are the God of my salvation; on you do I wait all the day”, and in chapter twenty five and verse six of Psalms David said, “Remember, O LORD, your tender mercies and your lovingkindnesses” where we read,
Remember, O LORD, your tender mercies and your lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.
The verse begins, “Remember, O LORD, your tender mercies and your lovingkindnesses;” David began with the words, “Remember, O LORD” which means “recall and call to mind Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “your tender mercies” or “your, Jehovah God's, pity and compassion like the cherishing of a fetus in the womb” “and your lovingkindnesses” which means “and your, Jehovah God's, goodness, faithfulness, favor and piety”. David appealed to Jehovah God to call to mind His pity, compassion, favor and faithfulness.
The verse goes on to say, “for they have been ever of old.” David continued with the words, “for they have been” or “because, since and on account that Jehovah God's tender mercies and lovingkindnesses have existed and survived” “ever of old” which means “for long duration, antiquity, futurity, everlasting and perpetually”. David wrote how Jehovah God's “tender mercies and lovingkindnesses” have existed from antiquity and long duration.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn about David's appeal to Jehovah God to be reminded of His “pity, compassion, favor and faithfulness” that have existed forever. God loves to pour out His “mercy” and “grace” (which is the New Testament word used for lovingkindness) upon any person who will yield their life to His Son Jesus Christ. When we believe and trust in Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, Jehovah God will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life with Him. His compassion, mercy, faithfulness and grace have always existed, and all are invited to receive His Son Jesus to partake of His wonderful benefits extended to mankind.
Next time David says, “Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions:”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
