Psalms chapter twenty-seven begins with the heading, [[A Psalm of David.]] which breaks down, “A Psalm” or “a melody of a poem set to notes and played with a musical instrument” “of David” which means “pertaining to David whose name means beloved and was the second king of Israel”, and in chapter twenty seven and verse one of Psalms David said, “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?” where we read,
The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
The verse begins, “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?”. David began with the words, “The LORD” which means “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “is my light” or “exists as my, David's, illumination, luminary including happiness, life and prosperity” “and my salvation” which means “and my, David's, deliverance, rescue, safety and welfare”; “whom shall I fear” or “what person exists that I, David, should revere, be in awe of, honor and respect”? David declared Jehovah God to be his illumination, and because of this, he questioned what person existed of whom he should be afraid.
The verse continues, “the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” David added the words, “the LORD” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “is the strength” which means “exists as the safety, protection, refuge and stronghold” “of my life” or “belonging to my, David's, living, sustenance and maintenance”; “of whom” which means “what person existed” “shall I be afraid” or “should I, David, tremble, dread,, be in awe and fear”? David declared Jehovah God to be his safety, protection, refuge and stronghold, and therefore he asked, what person exists of whom he should dread or tremble.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David depended upon Jehovah God for his protection and safety. David did not rely upon other people, weaponry or other means to make him safe, because they all pale in comparison to Jehovah God. God uses “tools of safety and provision” to accomplish His will in people, and because He has the universe at His disposal, nothing is able to defeat Him. Jehovah God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life with Him. Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one.” (See John 10:27-30), and we align with God's plan of salvation, protection and safety when we surrender to His Son Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”.
Next time David shares how his “enemies”, “stumbled and fell.”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
