In Psalms chapter twenty-five David said, “Unto you, O LORD, do I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in you: let me not be ashamed, let not my enemies triumph over me”, and in chapter twenty five and verse three of Psalms David said, “let none that wait on you be ashamed” where we read,
Yes, let none that wait on you be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.
The verse begins, “Yes, let none that wait on you be ashamed:” David began with the words, “Yes, let none that wait on you” which means “also, even so and indeed, allow and permit no person whether male or female who expects, hopes and tarries for you, Jehovah God, to” “be ashamed” or “exist as put to shame, be disconcerted and disappointed”. David continued his appeal to Jehovah by asking that no one who puts their hope and expectation within Him to feel shame and be disappointed.
The verse continues, “let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.” David added the words, “let them be ashamed” or “allow and permit the people whether male or female to be put to shame, be disconcerted and disappointed” “which transgress” which means “who act treacherously, deceitfully, faithlessly and offensively” “without cause” or “vainly, emptily and without effect”. David entreated Jehovah God to allow and permit people who act deceitfully and offensively in an empty and vain way to feel shame and be disappointed.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David did not want anyone who put their hope and expectation in Jehovah God to feel shame and be disappointed, however, any person who violated God's ways in a treacherous and offensive manner were to be disconcerted. The idea is for people who put their confidence in Jehovah God not to experience “shame and guilt”, but those who do not trust in Him and violate His ways were to be disappointed. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life, and no man comes to the Father, but by me”. (See John 14:6) He also said, “Enter you in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat” (See Matthew 7:13), and because of these words, Jehovah God's hand and invitation is extended to everyone who will put their faith and trust in His Son Jesus. Jesus came to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and those who believe in Him will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life. Those who refuse Him or attempt to find another way will “transgress” Him “without cause” and eventually “feel shame and be greatly “disappointed” for their decision.
Next time David says, “Show me your ways, O LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
