In Psalms chapter twenty-four David asked, “Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that has clean hands, and a pure heart; who has not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation”, and in chapter twenty four and verse six of Psalms David said, “This is the generation of them that seek him” where we read,
This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek your face, O Jacob. Selah.
The verse begins, “This is the generation of them that seek him, ...” David began with the words, “This is the generation” which means “such exists the age, revolution or period” “of them that seek him” or “belonging to the people both male and female who resort to, frequent, consult and inquire of him, Jehovah God”. David said people who “receive the blessing from the LORD” are from the age and revolution of people who resort to and inquire of Jehovah God.
The verse goes on to say, “... that seek your face, O Jacob. Selah.” David continued with the words, “that seek your face” or “who resort to, frequent, consult and inquire of your, Jehovah God's, countenance or presence”, “O Jacob” which means “O Jacob whose name means and was heel-catcher or supplanter who was the son of Isaac, the grandson of Abraham and the father of the twelve patriarchs of the tribes of Israel”. “Selah” or “lift up, exult and pause to meditate upon it”. David wrote how the people who resort to Jehovah God would resort the countenance of the God of Jacob, and the readers of these things are to pause and think about them.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through David that the people who ascend to the hill of the LORD and stand in His holy place are those who resort to Him and consult His countenance. God wants people to resort and inquire of Him, and when we yield ourselves to His Son Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”, we will be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and allowed to consult and resort to Him at any time. Let us give honor and praise unto God for blessing us with His presence and willingness to save, forgive and provide us with His amazing love and grace.
Next time David says, “Lift up your heads, O you gates”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
