In Psalms chapter twenty-five David asked, “What man is he that fears the LORD? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose. His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth”, and in chapter twenty five and verse fourteen of Psalms David said, “The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him” where we read,
The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will show them his covenant.
The verse begins, “The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him;” David began with the words, “The secret” which means “the counsel, assembly, intimacy and converse” “of the LORD” or belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name of the One True God” “is with them that fear him” which means “exists with people who are morally reverent, in awe and afraid of Jehovah God”. David said Jehovah God's intimate counsel is extended to people who reverence Him.
The verse goes on to say, “and he will show them his covenant.” David continued with the words, “and he will show them” or “and Jehovah God will cause the people who reverence Him to know, understand, acknowledge and declare” “his covenant” which means “his, Jehovah God's, alliance, treaty, constitution and ordinance”. David shared how Jehovah God would reveal His “treaty and ordinance” to the people who show reverence and are in awe of Him.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn from David how Jehovah God reveals His intimate counsel with people who reverence Him and have Him in awe. He desires to have people understand, acknowledge and declare His treaty and ordinance with others. God loves people, and for them to have a personal relationship with Him, they must have the sin in their lives removed. God sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross to pay the penalty of death for that sin, and when we surrender our lives to Jesus, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life. We are wise to be in awe of Jehovah God and to receive His intimate counsel by way of His sacred ordinances.
