Turn and Have Mercy Upon Me - Psalms 25:16

In Psalms chapter twenty-five David said,The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will show them his covenant. My eyes are ever toward the LORD; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net”, and in chapter twenty five and verse sixteen of Psalms David said, “Turn you unto me, and have mercy upon me” where we read,

Turn you unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted.

The verse begins, Turn you unto me, and have mercy upon me;” David began with the words, “Turn you unto me” which means “Jehovah God look after and approach me, David”, “and have mercy upon me” or “and be gracious, favor, pity and stoop in kindness to me, David”. David appealed to Jehovah God to look after and be gracious and favorable to him.

The verse goes on to say,for I am desolate and afflicted.” David continued with the words, “for I am desolate” or “because, since and on account that I, David, exist as unique, solitary and lonely” “and afflicted” which means “and poor, humble, wretched and needy”. David shared loneliness, wretchedness and neediness were the reasons he needed the “mercy” of Jehovah God.

When we think through the words in this verse, David knew who to call upon when he surveyed his own self, and because He needed Jehovah in his loneliness and need, he beckoned Him to “turn” toward him. God has set His mind toward all people because He desires to have a personal relationship with everyone through His Son Jesus. When we yield to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us eternal life and fulfill our needs by His “mercy” for all eternity.

Next time David says, “the troubles of my heart are enlarged, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
