In Psalms chapter twenty-four David said, “The earth is the LORD'S, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. For he has founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods”, and in chapter twenty four and verse three of Psalms David asked, “Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD?” where we read,
Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place?
The verse begins, “Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD?” David began with the words, “Who shall ascend” which means “what person whether male or female will go up, climb and retreat” “into the hill” or “to the mountain or hill country” “of the LORD” which means “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”? David asked what person would climb and go up to the mountain that belongs to Jehovah God.
The verse continues, “or who shall stand in his holy place?” David added the words, “or who shall stand” or “or what person whether male or female will arise, come on the scene and be fixed” “in his holy place” which means “within Jehovah God's set apart, separate, consecrated, hallowed and holy location, station, spot or locality”? David asked what person would be able to arise and be fixed within Jehovah God's “sacred and set apart” location.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David questioned what person would be capable of rising to the mountain place of Jehovah, and what person would be fixed and established within His sacred location. The implication is that these are rare and specific qualities that must be found in people in order to gain access to these places. God loves people, and He knows they are disqualified on their own because they are sinners. Sin separates people from a relationship with Jehovah God, and because this is so, Jesus was sent into the world to die on the cross for the sins of mankind. When we believe and trust in Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life with Him. God wants us to ascend to His mountain, and to “stand in His holy place”, and when we submit to Jesus He gives us access to do so.
Next time David says, “He that has clean hands, and a pure heart”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
