The LORD's Voice Shaking the Wilderness - Psalms 29:8

In Psalms chapter twenty-nine David said, “The voice of the LORD divides the flames of fire”, and in chapter twenty nine and verse eight David said, “The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness”, where we read,

The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; the LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.

The verse begins, “The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness;” David began with the words, “The voice of the LORD” or “the sound and noise of proclamation and thunder belonging to Jehovah who is the exiting One and the proper name for the One True God” “shakes the wilderness” which means “twists, whirls, writhes, trembles and dances the pasture, uninhabited land or desert”. David said Jehovah God's “voice” makes the “uninhabited desert land” to twirl and dance.

The verse goes on to say, “the LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.” David continues with the words, “the LORD” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “shakes the wilderness” which means “twists, whirls, writhes, trembles and dances the pasture, uninhabited land or desert” “of Kadesh” or “belonging to Kadesh whose name means holy and was a city in the extreme south of Judah”. David wrote how Jehovah God's “voice” makes the “uninhabited desert land” in the city of “Kadish” to tremble, whirl and dance.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through David how Jehovah God's “voice” is so powerful, that He is able to twist and whirl the desert like a dance, and he wrote specifically concerning the desert within “Kadesh”. God wants people to know the power, authority and rule of His “voice”, and when we are open to hear Him, He will speak. He provided His Son Jesus to die on the cross as a sacrifice for the sins of mankind, and after three days, Jesus rose from the grave. God speaks this truth to the hearts and minds of every person, and everyone has an opportunity to receive Him. Let Jehovah God be praised and honored for allowing His powerful “voice” to be heard by us, and may we receive Him as we obey what we hear.

The LORD's Voice Dividing Flames - Psalms 29:7

In Psalms chapter twenty-nine David said, “The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thunders: the LORD is upon many waters. The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty. The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; yes, the LORD breaks the cedars of Lebanon. He makes them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn”, and in chapter twenty nine and verse seven of Psalms David said, “The voice of the LORD divides the flames of fire”, where we read,

The voice of the LORD divides the flames of fire.

The verse begins, “The voice of the LORD ...” David began with the words, “The voice” which means “the sound and noise of proclamation and thunder” “of the LORD” or “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” does the following. David said Jehovah God's “voice” does the following.

The verse consider, “... divides the flames of fire.” David added the word, “divides” or “cuts out, hews in pieces and splits” “the flames of fire” which means “the flaming tips pertaining to fiery fire”. David wrote how Jehovah God's “voice” hews and splits the fiery tips like the ends of lightning.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through David how Jehovah God's “voice” is so powerful that He is able to split and separate the tips of fiery lightning. God reigns and rules over His universe, and yet, He is able to have an intimate relationship with every person who yields to His Son Jesus. Jesus was sent into the world to die on the cross for the sins of mankind, and anyone who believes in, relies upon, trusts in and clings to Him will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with God in Heaven. The powerful “voice” of Jehovah God is able to whisper to the souls of those who are willing that “salvation” and relationship are available, and those who hear Him should surrender and receive.

Skipping Like a Calf - Psalms 29:6

In Psalms chapter twenty-nine David said “The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thunders: the LORD is upon many waters. The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty. The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; yes, the LORD breaks the cedars of Lebanon”, and in chapter twenty nine and verse six of Psalms David said, “He makes them also to skip like a calf”, where we read,

He makes them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.

The verse begins, “He makes them also to skip like a calf;” David began with the words, “He makes them also” which means “He, Jehovah God, forces the cedars trees even so and also” “to skip like a calf” or “to dance, leap and jump about similar and in likeness to a young bull or steer”. David said Jehovah God forces the cedar trees to jump and dance around like a young bull or steer that is frisking round.

The verse continues, “Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.” David added the word, “Lebanon” or “whose name means whiteness or white mountain range which is on the northern border of Israel” “and Sirion” which means “and Sirion whose name means breastplate and was one of the names of Mount Hermon used by the Sidonians” “like a young unicorn” or “similar and in likeness to a youthful unicorn which is an Old Testament word for great aurochs or wild bulls which are now extinct”. David wrote how Jehovah God forces the mountains of “Lebanon and Sirion” to frisk about like young wild bulls.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we realize how Jehovah God has power and might over His creation. He easily forces mighty cedar trees to thrash about like skipping “calves”, and even the mountains upon which they are grown frisk about like young bulls. God created the universe, and there is nothing more powerful than He. He is great and mighty and yet, He desires to have an intimate personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus. When we receive Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life. Jehovah God deserves praise, honor and glory not only for His greatness, but also for His willingness to provide salvation and relationship to everyone who surrenders to Him.

The Voice of the LORD Breaks the Cedars - Psalms 29:5

In Psalms chapter twenty-nine David said “The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thunders: the LORD is upon many waters. The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty”, and in Psalms chapter twenty nine and verse five David said, “the voice of the LORD breaks the cedars”, where we read,

The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; yes, the LORD breaks the cedars of Lebanon.

The verse begins, “The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars;” David began with the words, “The voice of the LORD” which means “the sound and noise of proclamation and thunder belonging to Jehovah who is the exiting One and the proper name for the One True God” “breaks the cedars” or “breaks in pieces, splinters, maims, cripples, wrecks and crushes the cedar trees, timber and wood”. David said Jehovah God's “voice” “cripples, wrecks and crushes” the timber and wood of the “cedar” trees”.

The verse goes on to say, “yes, the LORD breaks the cedars of Lebanon.” David continued with the words, “yes, the LORD” or “even so and indeed Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “breaks the cedars” which means “breaks in pieces, splinters, maims, cripples, wrecks and crushes the cedar trees, timber and wood” “of Lebanon” or “belonging to Lebanon whose name means whiteness or white mountain range which is on the northern border of Israel”. David affirmed that Jehovah God's “voice” “cripples, wrecks, splinters and crushes” the timber and wood of the “cedar trees” located in “Lebanon” which are known for their size and strength.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David exalted the “voice” of Jehovah God as more powerful than the “cedar trees” and especially the “cedar trees of Lebanon”. God has authority and power over His creation of which mighty cedar trees are a part, and His might is more powerful than a lightning bolt striking a “cedar tree” and obliterating it. This Almighty and powerful God desires to have an intimate relationship with every person through His Son Jesus. He sent Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of mankind, and anyone who believes and trusts in Him as their personal “Savior and Lord” will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with Him. We may give praise, honor and glory to Almighty Jehovah God and remember the power of His “voice” over “cedar trees” and any difficulties we have within our lives.

The Voice of the LORD is Powerful - Psalms 29:4

In Psalms chapter twenty-nine David said “The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thunders: the LORD is upon many waters”, and in chapter twenty nine and verse four of Psalms David said, “the voice of the LORD is powerful”, where we read,

The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.

The verse begins, “The voice of the LORD is powerful;” David began with the words, “The voice of the LORD” which means “the sound and noise of proclamation and thunder belonging to Jehovah who is the exiting One and the proper name for the One True God” “is powerful” or “exists as mighty, strong, wealthy and full of force”. David declared Jehovah God's “voice” to be mighty and filled with force”.

The verse continues, “the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.” David added the words, “the voice of the LORD” which means “the sound and noise of proclamation and thunder belonging to Jehovah who is the exiting One and the proper name for the One True God” “is full of majesty” or “is filled and complete with ornament, splendor, honor and glory”. David declared Jehovah God's “voice” to be filled with “splendor, honor and glory”.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how David exalted the “voice” of Jehovah God. When God speaks, His “voice” is mighty and strong”, and when He speaks His “voice” is filled with “honor, glory and splendor”. In other words, God's voice is worthy of our recognition and adherence. Jehovah God declared that mankind is alienated and separated from a personal relationship with Him because He is Holy and people are sinful. He knew people needed a “Savior” who served as a mediator who could bridge the gap between them and Him. He sent Jesus into the world to die for the sins of mankind so they could have an intimate relationship with Him. God loves people, and when we yield to His Son Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life with Him and walk with us every day of our lives. Let us acknowledge Him and His voice and surrender to His plan of salvation for us and everyone who believes.

The Voice of the LORD upon Waters - Psalms 29:3

In Psalms chapter twenty-nine David said “Give unto the LORD, O you mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength. Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness”, and in chapter twenty nine and verse three of Psalms David said, “the voice of the LORD is upon the waters”, where we read,

The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thunders: the LORD is upon many waters.

The verse begins, “The voice of the LORD is upon the waters:” David began with the words, “The voice of the LORD” which means “the sound and noise of proclamation and thunder belonging to Jehovah who is the exiting One and the proper name for the One True God” “is upon the waters” or “exists upon the watercourse, water-floods or water-springs”. David declared Jehovah God's “sound of proclamation” to echo or be over the oceans or seas of the earth.

The verse continues, “the God of glory thunders: the LORD is upon many waters.” David added the words, “the God of glory” or “the mighty, powerful and strong Almighty and Supreme God” “thunders” which means “trembles and makes a sound or violent agitation like thunder”: “the LORD” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “is upon many waters” which means “exists upon a great, numerous and abundant amount of watercourses, water-floods or water-springs”. David declared how the Almighty “God” makes a sound like a powerful “thunder” and He is over the numerous waters of the world.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David exalts Jehovah God's “voice” and presence above the “waters” of the world. The voice, power and might of Jehovah God is worthy of our attention, and those who acknowledge Him will discover that He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of mankind. Like a powerful thunderstorm, He “thunders” with His “voice” and declares over the waters of the world His salvation and rescue for the separation of people from a relationship with Him. His “voice”, though powerful, is often a “still small voice” that should cause us to respond by receiving His Son Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”. Let us join with David and declare the thunderous “voice” of the “LORD” over all the world and to the heart of every person.

Give Glory to the LORD's Name - Psalms 29:2

In Psalms chapter twenty-nine David said “Give unto the LORD, O you mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength”, and in chapter twenty nine and verse two of Psalms David said, “Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name”, where we read,

Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

The verse begins, “Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name;” David began with the words, “Give unto the LORD” which means “provide, set, place and ascribe to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “the glory” or “the honor, splendor, abundance and dignity” “due unto his name” which means “owed and payable to his, Jehovah God's, reputation, fame and renown”. David exhorted people to provide and ascribe honor, splendor and dignity to Jehovah God's reputation, fame and renown.

The verse goes on to say, “worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.” David continued with the words, “worship the LORD” or “bow down, prostrate, reverence and humbly beseech Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “in the beauty of holiness” which means “within the holy adornment, honor and glory pertaining to sacredness, separateness and consecration”. David declared that people should reverence and humbly beseech Jehovah God with honor, glory, sacredness and consecration.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how David challenged people to ascribe to Jehovah God the honor, splendor and dignity that He is owed, and he desired that Jehovah be revered in a sacred and consecrated manner. David directed people to Jehovah God, and Jehovah God directs people to believe in His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of the world. We are given the opportunity to ascribe glory and honor to Jehovah God through His Son Jesus, and we worship Him for making a way for our sins to be forgiven and to inherit everlasting life. Let us “give” Jehovah God “glory and honor”, and may we “worship” Him like David exhorted within His holy and sacred consecration.
