Always Confident 2 Corinthians 5:6

As Paul continued to share with the church members in Corinth concerning the “heavenly body” he wrote, “he that has wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also has given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.”, and in chapter five and verse six of Second Corinthians, Paul told the church members in what he and his companions, “always confident”, where we read:

Therefore we are always confident, knowing that,
while we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:

The verse begins, “Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, ... ” Paul began with the word, “therefore” which means “then, accordingly, consequently and these things being so” “we are always confident” or “Paul and his companions are continually of good courage, cheer and boldness”, “knowing that” which means “perceiving, noticing, discerning and discovering”. Paul and his companions were continually cheerful and bold because they had knowledge.

The verse continues, “...while we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: Paul added the words, “while we are at home” which means “at the time Paul and his companions were among and dwells” “in the body” which refers to “within the corpse”, “we are absent” or “Paul and his companions were gone and departed” “from the Lord” which refers to “in separation and fleeing from he to whom a person or thing belongs, about which he has power of deciding; master and the title given to God the Messiah”. Paul knew as long and he and his companions were in their “earthly tabernacles” or bodies, they were “separate and away from” Jesus..

When we meditate upon these words of Paul, we see how he felt the “absence” of the Lord Jesus as long as he was in his “earthly body”. Jesus dwells where the “earthly body” cannot, and therefore neither Paul nor his companions were able to be with Him. However, when they would be “clothed upon” with their “heavenly bodies”, they would be “with the Lord”, and since Jesus desires for everyone to be with Him, they shall be separated and “always confident” as long as they dwell within their “earthly tents”.

Next time Paul tells the church members how he and his companions, “walk by faith, not by sight”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then,

Until tomorrow…there is more…
