The Vail Taken Away 2 Corinthians 3:16

Paul the apostle told the church members in Corinth concerning the “children of Israel”, “even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart”, and in chapter three and verse sixteen of Second Corinthians, Paul shared the church members, “the vail shall be taken away”, where we read:

Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.

The verse begins, “Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, ...” Paul began with the word, “nevertheless” which means “moreover and” “when” or “at which time, length and whenever” “it shall turn” which means “the nation of Israel shall return and be brought back to the love and obedience of God” “to the Lord” which refers to “toward he to whom a person or thing belongs, about which he has power of deciding; master and the title given to God the Messiah” . Paul referred to the time when Israel shall return unto the Lord.

The verse continues, ... the vail shall be taken away. Paul added the words, “the vail” or “the covering” “shall be taken away” which refers to “the removal of that which surrounds or envelopes such as the guilt of sin or to expiate perfectly”. Paul shared how the “covering” will be “removed” when the children of Israel return to God.

When we think through these words of Paul, we see his promise of the removal of “the vail” which blinds the minds and hearts of the people of Israel. Israel shall return unto God, and when they do, this covering “shall be taken away”. God desires to have a relationship with every person who will believe in His Son Jesus as the perfect sacrifice for their sins, and should they be “blinded” from His provision at this time, may these words, like it shall be for Israel, begin to “take away” the “veil” that keeps them from seeing.

Next time Paul declares to the church members, “now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then,

Until tomorrow…there is more…
