The Driveway

One glanced upon a driveway thresh
where coming going pass
the downward hill the leading stretch
to home and outward path

The entrance exit thus be known
and great importance be
though little thought be given it
of it's reliant need

Where dear vacated passioned dreams
and love lives disappeared
the disappoint of vanquished souls
of those no longer near

The circle of the fate's unknown
where tears were flowing free
while carrying the golden trust
of love that used to be

Where yellow carriage ported hearts
and swept all hope away
the mental love a vapor now
drove from import driveway

And future now a faded past
upon asphalt below
reality of sudden dash
of that t'will be no more

The cracking mass, the weeds,
the grass now deep within the trail
reminders of what used to be
the timeless puzzle fail

And day by day and month by month
the faithful driveway stayed
where years did pass those overhead
without regard to grade

And pound their smashing carriage wheels
with blatant disregard
no longer could the driveway take
the pulsing of their hearts

While fainted memories did walk
and transient o'er the course
and damage driveway's doggedness
without one spec remorse

And month by month and year by year
those passing over head
drove deeper down the firm resolve
escape from driveway's stead

And carriage gold from long ago
cast still it's grotted spell
and driveway's hope to never end
the loves that did prevail
