Moses' Vail 2 Corinthians 3:13

Paul the apostle shared with the church members in Corinth, “for if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more does the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory”, and in chapter three and verse ten of Second Corinthians, Paul wrote to the church members concerning, “the glory that excels”, where we read:

For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect,
by reason of the glory that excels.

The verse begins, “For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, ...” Paul began with the word, “for” or “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and therefore” “even that which was made glorious” which is all one Greek word “doxazō” and means “to think, suppose, be of opinion, praise, extol, magnify, celebrate, honor, adorn with luster and clothe with splendor” “had no glory” or “did not have opinion, judgment, view, estimate, splendor and brightness” “in this respect” which means “in this part, assignment, constituent parts of the whole, to some degree, severally and individually”. Paul showed how the Old Covenant” had no “splendor and brightness” in “some degree” to what he is about to declare.

The verse goes on to say, … by reason of the glory that excels. Paul continued with the words, “by reason” which means “on account of, for the sake of, for this cause and therefore” “of the glory” or “of the opinion, judgment, view, estimate, splendor and brightness” “that excels” which means “that surpasses in throwing, throwing over or beyond anything, transcends and exceeds”. Paul shared why the Old Covenant held no “glory” was because the New Covenant “exceeded” it with “splendor and brightness”.

When we think through these words of Paul, we see how the New Covenant or Testament from God outshined the Old one. This is not because the Old Covenant did not radiate with “splendor and brightness”, but because the New One was “brighter”. The brilliance of God's New Testament was founded upon His Son Jesus keeping the law rather than people, and now the opportunity to have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ is superior. Let us consider this great and awesome God who not only provides “covenants” with people, but is also willing and able to supply what is lacking on our part to keep them.

Next time Paul writes to the church members concerning, “if that which is done away was glorious”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then,

Until tomorrow…there is more…
