The Earnest Expectation Romans 8:19

Paul the apostle told the people in Rome,The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:”, and he added, “And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.” He continued, “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us”, and in chapter eight and verse nineteen of Romans, Paul wrote to his readers concerning, “the earnest expectation of the creature” where we read:

For the earnest expectation of the creature waits for the manifestation of the sons of God.

The verse begins, For the earnest expectation of the creature …” Paul began with the words, “for” which means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and therefore” “the earnest expectation” which means “anxious and persistent sense of watching and anticipation” “of the creature” which means “pertaining to the creation”. Paul shared how “creation” is persistent in “anticipation”.

The verse continues, “... waits for the manifestation of the sons of God.Paul continued with the word, “waits” which means “assiduously and patiently expects and looks” “for the manifestation” or “for the laying bare, disclosure and revealing appearance” “of the sons” which refers to “the offspring and descendants”“of God” or “pertaining to the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Paul shared how all of “creation” waits for the revelation of the “children” “of God”.

When we think through these words of Paul, we see how everything created anticipates the revealing of the “children of God”. At this point, many of God's “children” are unknown, but when He comes again, He shall unveil them. Jesus Christ desires everyone to be God's “children”, and He provided the way for that to be so. When a person receives Jesus Christ as their “Savior and Lord”, they become His “children” and shall be made known to all of His “creation”.

Next time Paul tells his readers, “the creature was made subject to vanity”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
