The Fathers Romans 9:5

Paul the apostle told the people in Rome, “I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh”, and he identified them as “ Israelites; to whom pertains the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises.” In chapter nine and verse five of Romans, Paul spoke of the “Israelites” as “fathers” where we read:

Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came,
who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.

The verse begins, “whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, ...Paul began with the words, “whose are the fathers” which means “to whom belong the generators, male ancestors, initiators and originators”, “and of whom” or “and through who” “as concerning” which means “and by” “the flesh” which refers to “the mere human and earthly nature of man apart from divine influence and therefore prone to sin and opposed to God ”, “Christ” which means “the anointed One, the Messiah and the Son of God”, “came” which means “into being”. Paul recognized the “Israeli male ancestors” as the ones through whom Jesus Christ came in His “human body”.

The verse goes on to say, ... who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.. Paul added the words, “who is over all or “who is above each, every, the whole and everyone whom”, “God” which means “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Son of God” “blessed” or “adored and praised” “for ever” which means “toward the unbroken age, perpetuity of time and eternity”. “Amen” which means “so it is, so be it and may it be fulfilled”. Paul shared how Jesus Christ is over everything throughout all “eternity”.

When we consider these words of Paul, we see how God used the “Israeli people” to be the ones through whom His Son Jesus would be born. Jesus is over everything and is “blessed” and honored by God forever, and God specifically chose the people of Israel to birth His Messiah. God desires to have a relationship with every person, and He has given Jesus, His Son, to be the One through whom that relationship is provided. Those who believe in Him shall be “saved”, and those who do not, shall not be “saved”. Let all who read these words know the importance of the “Israeli fathers” and understand that God patiently waits for all who will to receive Him.

Next time we see Paul share, “not as though the world of God has taken no effect”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
