Every Knee Shall Bow and Every Tongue Shall Confess Romans 14:11

Paul the apostle asked the believers in Rome, “But why do you judge your brother? or why do you set at nought your brother?”, and he added the reason, “for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.” In chapter fourteen and verse eleven of Romans, Paul asked the believers in Rome, “every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God” where we read:

For it is written, As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me,
and every tongue shall confess to God.

The verse begins, For it is written, As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me,” Paul began with the word, “for” which means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and therefore” “it is written” or “to delineate or form with letters on a tablet, parchment, paper or other material”, “as I live” which means “as Paul breathed, was among the living, was active, blessed and endless in the kingdom of God” “says the Lord” which means “declares, utters and proclaims he to whom a person or thing belongs, about which he has power of deciding; master and the title given to God the Messiah”, “every knee” or “each, all, the whole and everyone of people's physical knee” “shall bow to me” which refers to “will bend and honor the Lord. Paul shared how the Lord Himself declared how “every knee” would “bend” to Him in honor.

The verse continues, and every tongue shall confess to God.” Paul added the words, “and every tongue” which means “and each, all, the whole and everyone of people's physical tongues” “shall confess” or “will profess, celebrate and acknowledge openly and joyfully” “to God” which means “to the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Paul shared how the Lord also declared that every person will use their “tongues” to “profess and openly acknowledge” God.

When we think through these words of Paul, we see how every person eventually shall acknowledge God through their “bent knees” and their “confessing tongues”. Regardless of whether a person receives Jesus Christ as their “Savior and Lord” while on earth, they shall “bow their knee” and “acknowledge” Him with their “tongues”. God gives every person the opportunity to recognize Him as “Lord and Savior”, and through His Son Jesus He has offered “salvation” to the world. Those who humble themselves and acknowledge Him while they are living shall be “saved”, but those who reject Him shall certainly “honor and acknowledge” Him one day in their future. “Today is the day of salvation”. (2 Corinthians 6:2)

Next time Paul tells the believers in Rome, “every one of us shall give account of himself to God”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
