Paul the Minister of Jesus to the Gentiles Romans 15:16

Paul the apostle prayed for the believers in Rome as he wrote, “I have written the more boldly unto you in some sort, as putting you in mind, because of the grace that is given to me of God”, and in chapter fifteen and verse sixteen of Romans, Paul shared how he was, “the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles” where we read:

That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.

The verse begins, “That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, ...” Paul began with the words, “that I should be” which means “so Paul would exist and happen as” “the minister” or “the servant, worshiper and benefactor” “of Jesus” whose name means “Jehovah is Salvation” and is “the Son of God, the Savior of mankind God incarnate” “Christ” or “the anointed One, the Messiah and the Son of God” “to the Gentiles” which means “the companies, troops and multitudes of individuals who are from nations and people groups who are not Jews”, “ministering” or “preaching” “the gospel” which means “good tidings or news” “of God” which means “pertaining to the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Paul counted it a privilege to “preach” the “gospel of God” to people who were not native Jews.

The verse continues, “... that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost. Paul added the words, “that the offering up” which means “so the bringing up, presenting and sacrificing for the sins” “of the Gentiles” or “pertaining to the companies, troops and multitudes of individuals who are from nations and people groups who are not Jews” “might be acceptable” which means “would be well received, approved and favorable”, “being sanctified” or “rendering, consecrating and acknowledging as venerable or hallow” “by the Holy Ghost” which means “through and by means of the holy, pure and blameless third person of the triune God who is coequal and co-eternal with the Father and the Son”. Paul knew the “preaching of the gospel” of Jesus Christ would allow him to “present” the “Gentiles” as an “approved” and “sanctified” offering to God.

When we meditate upon these words of Paul, we see how much he enjoyed being the “minister” to “the Gentiles”. God desires for every person to be “saved”, and He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross, be raised from the dead and ascend into Heaven so people might have a relationship with Him. As Paul wanted to “present” the “Gentiles” before God as an “acceptable sacrifice”, so also should every person who knows Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord” desire that others “receive” “the gospel of God”. Let all who read these words count it a privilege to be a “minister of Jesus Christ”, and may all who do not know Him receive Him today.

Next time Paul tells the believers in Rome how he, “may glory through Jesus Christ in those things which pertain to God”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
