Salute Philologus, Julia, Nereus, his sister, Olympas, and All the Saints Romans 16:15

Paul the apostle continued to list certain individuals to greet among the believers in Rome as he told the believers to, “Salute Rufus chosen in the Lord, and his mother and mine”, and he added, “Salute Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermas, Patrobas, Hermes, and the brethren which are with them.” In chapter sixteen and verse fifteen of Romans, Paul instructed the believers to, “Salute Philologus, and Julia, Nereus, and his sister, and Olympas, and all the saints” where we read:
Salute Philologus, and Julia, Nereus, and his sister,
and Olympas, and all the saints which are with them.

The verse begins, “Salute Philologus, and Julia, Nereus, and his sister, .... Paul began with the word, “salute” which means “greet, bid welcome, wish well to and receive joyfully” “Philologus” whose name means “lover of the Word” and was “a Christian in Rome”, “and Julia” whose name means “soft haired” and was “a Christian woman in Rome”, “Nereus” whose name means “lump” and was “a Christian at Rome”, “and his sister” which refers to “and Nereus' full and natural sister”. Paul continued his desire for more people in Rome to be “greeted” for him.

The verse goes on to say, “... and Olympas, and all the saints which are with them Paul continued with the words, “and Olympas” whose name means “heavenly” and was “a Christian at Rome”, and all the saints or “and each, every, the whole and everyone of the pure, morally blameless and religiously and ceremonially consecrated ones” “which are with them” which refers to “who are alongside Philologus, Julia, Nereus, his sister and Olympas”. Paul wanted “Olympas” greeted as well as every one of the other “saints” which were with these believers.

When we think through these words of Paul, we see more of the people of whom he was fond in Rome. One by one, “Philologus, Julia, Nereus, his sister and Olympas, and all the saints with them” were mentioned, and because they declared their faith and trust in Jesus Christ as their personal “Savior and Lord”, they not only belonged to the church, but were also together as a family. God desires for every person to have a relationship with Him and His family, and those who believe and trust in Jesus Christ shall become the well-loved family of God.

Next time Paul tells the believers in Rome to “Salute one another with an holy kiss”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
