Salute Apelles and Aristobulus' Household Romans 16:10

As Paul the apostle listed certain individuals to greet among the believers in Rome, he told the believers to, “Greet Amplias my beloved in the Lord”, and he added, “Salute Urbane, our helper in Christ, and Stachys my beloved.” In chapter sixteen and verse ten of Romans, Paul instructed the believers to, “salute Apelles” and “them which are of Aristobulus' household” where we read:
Salute Apelles approved in Christ. Salute them which are of Aristobulus' household.

The verse begins, Salute Apelles approved in Christ. Paul began with the word, “salute” which means “greet, bid welcome, wish well to and receive joyfully” “Apelles” whose name means “called” and was “a certain Christian” “approved” name means “accepted, pleasing and acceptable” “in Christ” which refers to “the anointed One, the Messiah and the Son of God”. Paul recognized a man named “Apelles” whom he says was “accepted and pleasing” “in Christ”.

The verse continues, “Salute them which are of Aristobulus' household.. Paul added the word, “salute them” which means “greet, bid welcome, wish well to and receive joyfully the believers” “which are of Aristobulus' household” which means “who belong to a man whose name means the best councilor and was a certain Christian as well. Paul recognized those within the “house” of “Aristobulous” who were in Rome.

When we meditate upon words of Paul, we discover more people he knew in Rome. “Apelles” carried the status of being “accepted and pleasing” to God, and the believers within “Aristobulus' house” were of note to him as well. These are people who became followers of Jesus Christ and received Him as their “Savior and Lord”. These people demonstrate God's purpose for sending His Son, and all who accept Jesus belong to His fellowship of “accepted” believers “in Christ”.

Next time Paul tells the believers in Rome to “salute Herodion” and “them that be of the household of Narcissus”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
