Goodness, Knowledge and Able to Admonish Romans 15:14

Paul the apostle prayed for the believers in Rome as he wrote, “the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost”, and in chapter fifteen and verse fourteen of Romans, Paul shared about, “goodness, knowledge and the ability to admonish” where we read:

And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that you also are full of goodness,
filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.

The verse begins, “And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that you also are full of goodness, ...” Paul began with the words, “and I myself” which means “as Paul his own self” “also am persuaded” or “even so and indeed is induced by words to believe, listen to, obey, yield to, comply with and have confidence in” “of you” which means “pertaining to the believers in Rome”, “my brethren” which refers to “Paul's fellow believers who are united to others by the bond of affection”, “that you also” which means “so the believers in Rome even so and indeed” “are full” or “are replete” “of goodness” which means “pertaining to uprightness of heart and life, virtue, beneficence and kindness”. Paul was “convinced” concerning that the believers in Rome were “replete” with “uprightness of heart, life, beneficence and kindness”.

The verse continues, “... filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.. Paul added the word, “filled” which means “to make full, cause to abound, furnish and supply liberally” “with all knowledge” or “alongside each, every, the whole and everything related to general intelligence, understanding and of things lawful and unlawful for Christians”, “able also” which means “capable, strong and powerful even so and indeed” “to admonish” or “to warn and exhort” “one another” which refers to “each other”. Paul also knew the believers were “full of understanding” and “capable” to “warn and exhort” each other.

When we think through these words of Paul, we see his confidence concerning the believers in Rome. He recognized their “goodness, knowledge and ability to admonish” one another, and this was directly related to their personal relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ. When people receive Jesus as their “Savior and Lord”, they begin to exude these Godly traits, and love for one another becomes the driving force for all of them. God wants people to be “good, filled with His knowledge and capable to warn and exhort” one another, and when they receive His Son, they receive His wonderful characteristics as well.

Next time Paul tells the believers in Rome, “I have written the more boldly unto you in some sort”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
