Love Works No Ill to His Neighbor Romans 13:10

Paul the apostle told the believers in Rome, “Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loves another has fulfilled the law”, and he added, “For this, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, You shall not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” In chapter thirteen and verse ten of Romans, Paul told the believers, Love works no ill to his neighbor where we read:

Love works no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
The verse begins, Love works no ill to his neighbor:” Paul began with the word, “love” which means “affection, good will, benevolence and unconditional brotherly love” “works no ill” or “labors, trades, exercises, performs, commits and produces not any bad nature, not as it ought to be, acting, thinking, feeling, base, wrong or wickedness” “to his neighbor” which refers to “any other person and where two are concerned the other person”. Paul declared how a person filled with “love” does not “practice bad or wickedness” against another person.

The verse goes on to say, therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. Paul continued the word, “therefore” which means “then, accordingly, consequently and these things being so” “love is” or “affection, good will, benevolence and unconditional brotherly love exists as” “the fulfilling” which refers to “that which has been filled, completeness and abundance” “of the law” or “pertaining to the rule producing a state approved of God”. Paul concluded “unconditional love” “completes” the approved rule of God.

When we think through these words of Paul, we see how “love” is important to the “fulfillment” of God's law, and the way people engage their “neighbors” determines whether they are keeping “the rule of God”. Jesus Christ came to save people from their sins, and when they submit their lives to Him, He fills them with His “love” for other people. There is no desire to work “ill” toward anyone, and when that is manifested within a person's life, they live in the like-mindedness of God.

Next time Paul tells the believers in Rome, “it is high time to awake out of sleep”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
