Fine Brass Feet and Loud Voice Revelation 1:15

John the apostle continued to share the “Revelation” which was given to him by Jesus Christ through an angel, and he told how he, “was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last”, and “being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks, and in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;”. In chapter one and verse fifteen of Revelation, John shared how he saw the Son of Man who had, “feet like unto fine brass” and a “voice as the sound of many waters” where we read:

And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace;
and his voice as the sound of many waters.

The verse begins, “And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace;” John began with the words, “and his feet” which means “and the Son of Man's or Jesus' feet” “like unto fine brass” or “resembled or were like burnished copper or an alloy of copper or gold”, “as” which means “like” “if they burned” or “whether they were made to glow, full of fire, ignited and kindled” “in a furnace” which means “within a smelting or earthen ware”. John saw the “feet” of “the Son of Man or Jesus' and they were like “burnished copper” that was “glowing” in a “kindling fire”.

The verse continues, “and his voice as the sound of many waters.” John added the words, “and his voice” or “and the Son of Man's or Jesus' sound, tone, language and tongue” “as the sound” which means “was like the sound, tone, language and tongue” “of many waters” or “large rivers, fountains, pools or waves of the sea”. When John heard “the Son of Man's or Jesus'” “voice”, it sounded like “rushing waters or waves of the sea”.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we continue to see and hear how awesome the sight of Jesus was. His “feet” were like unto “brilliant burnished copper” which is the symbol of judgment, and His “voice” was so loud and blaring that it was like “rushing waters”. Once again we imagine such a powerful sight John the apostle experienced. God Almighty, in His infinite wisdom, showed John the spiritual and supernatural sight of Jesus, and even though John knew Him when He was on the earth, we have no record of him ever seeing Jesus like this. God desires to have a relationship with every person through His Son Jesus, and those who “believe and trust” in Him shall be “saved”. This powerful “voiced” One, who walks upon “feet” of justice, is ready to extend His grace toward everyone who submits to Him, but woe be to the one who faces His mighty power after resisting His offer.

Next time John shares about the “Son of Man's”, “in his right hand seven stars” and “out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
