Kings and Priests Unto God Revelation 1:6

John the apostle shared to whom this “Revelation” was addressed as he wrote, “John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne”, and he added, “And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood”. In chapter one and verse six of “Revelation”, John shares how Jesus has “made us kings and priests” where we read:

And has made us kings and priests unto God and his Father;
to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

The verse begins, “And has made us kings and priests unto God and his Father;” John began with the words, “and has made us” which means “and has produced, constructed, formed and fashioned believers in Him as” “kings” or “leaders of the people, princes, commanders and lords of the land” “and priests” or “ones who are purified by the blood of Christ and brought into close intercourse with God who devote their lives to Him alone and to Christ” “unto God” which means “toward the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “and his Father” or “and His originator and transmitter who in the closest bond of love and intimacy is made acquainted with his purposes, appointed to explain and carry out among men the plan of salvation and made to share also in His own divine nature”. Jesus Christ has made every person who “believes and trusts” in Him to be as “rulers and purified ones” before God the Father.

The verse goes on to say, “to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.” John continued with the words, “to him” or “toward Jesus” “be glory” which means “be splendor, brightness, honor and praise” “and dominion” or “force, strength, might and great power” “for ever” which means “to the unbroken age, perpetuity of time and eternity” “and ever” or “and to the unbroken age, perpetuity of time and eternity”. “Jesus” is to receive “honor and praise” as well as “force, strength and power” for all of “eternity”.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we discover the position within which Jesus has set His believers. The titles of “Kings” or “rulers and commanders” and “priests” who are “purified by the bloodshed of Jesus” are ascribed to people who receive Jesus Christ as their personal “Savior and Lord”, and “Jesus” is to “praised and honored” for all of eternity because of it. God desires to have a relationship with everyone, and this comes through believing in His Son Jesus Christ. Those who receive Him shall be raised to the positions of “Kings and Priests” and all of eternity shall know them in this state.

Next time we shall see John share how Jesus, “comes with clouds”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
