He Comes with Clouds and Every Eye Shall See Him Revelation 1:7

John the apostle shared to whom this “Revelation” was addressed as he wrote, “John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne”, and he added, “And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood”. He continued, “And has made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.” In chapter one and verse seven of “Revelation”, John shares how Jesus “comes with clouds; and every eye shall see him” where we read:

Behold, he comes with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him:
and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

The verse begins, “Behold, he comes with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him:” John began with the word, “behold” which means “lo and see”, “he comes” or “Jesus appears, comes forth, shows himself and makes his appearance” “with clouds” which means “in cloudiness as within the skies”; “and every eye” which means “and each, all, the whole and everyone's eye“shall see him” or “will look at, behold and be allowed to view Jesus”, “and they also” or “and even and indeed those people” “which pierced him” which refers to “who put, dug through and transfixed Jesus”. John called his readers to “take a look and see” how Jesus shall come in the “clouds”, and when He does, “everyone shall view Him” including those who “bore holes in his hands and feet on the cross.

The verse continues, “and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.” John added the words, “and all kindreds” or “and each, every, the whole and everyone of the persons descending from one of the twelve sons of the patriarch Jacob including those offshoots of races, clans and tribes” “of the earth” which means “pertaining to the arable land as opposed to the sea or water”“shall wail” or “will cut, strike, smite and beat their breasts for grief” “because” which means “upon, on, at, by and before” “of him” which refers to “Jesus”. “Even so” or “yes, verily, truly and assuredly” “Amen” which means “let it be so,so let it be and may it be fulfilled”. People from every nation and tribe shall “beat their breasts for grief” before the Lord when He appears.

When we think through John's words in this verse, we see how he recognized the “coming again” of the Lord Jesus. In the book of the Acts of the Apostles we read, “And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, You men of Galilee, why stand you gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as you have seen him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:9-11) The angel promised that Jesus would return, and when He does, “everyone” shall “see” Him, and those who have been in opposition to Him and refused His plan of salvation shall “strike, smite and beat their breasts” for the “grief” that shall come upon them. God desires to have people be in a relationship with Him through His Son Jesus Christ, and when that occurs, they shall rejoice in the coming of the Lord and cry out, “Even So, Amen!”

Next time John shares how Jesus will say, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
