The Morning Star Revelation 2:28

After John the apostle saw the vision of Jesus in chapter one of “Revelation”, he began to write to the “seven churches in Asia”. He started with the church located in “Ephesus”, then the “church of Smyrna, the “church in Pergamos” and after commending the “church in Thyatira” he told them, “I have a few things against you, because you suffer that woman Jezebel, which calls herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols” and he added, “Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. But that which you have already hold fast till I come. And he that overcomes, and keeps my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations. And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.”. In chapter two and verse twenty-eight of Revelation, John shared how Jesus added “I will give him the morning star”, “that which you have already hold fast” where we read:

And I will give him the morning star.

The verse reads, And I will give him the morning star.John began with the words, “and I will give him” which means “and Jesus would grant, furnish, supply and bestow upon the the person whether male or female” “the morning star” or “the dawn”. Jesus promised to “grant and bestow” upon people who “overcome and keep” Jesus' “works” the bright refreshing of the new day “dawn”.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we understand how this benefit to people who align themselves with Jesus' “words and ways” is in addition to the “ruling with a rod of iron” that shall be given to Him. God desires a relationship with everyone, and this is obtained through “belief and trust” in His Son Jesus. Afterward, “overcoming” and “keeping” Jesus' “works” shall receive rewards of “authority” and “brilliance”, and anyone who considers these benefits will surely submit themselves to Him.

Next time John writes how Jesus tells the “church of Thyatira” “he that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the churches”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
