Revelation - Introduction Two

Last time we learned John the apostle wrote this book around 90 a.d. while exiled on the Island of Patmos. The word “Revelation” means “the unveiling or revealing” and is like the “unveiling” of a statue upon the day of presentation. God desires that His believers know the things which are to be, and as we learn in this second introduction there are three blessings associated with this book. We read:

Blessed is he that reads, and they that hear the words of this prophecy,
and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

The first blessing mentioned by John is for “he that reads” which simply means to read the words in this book. Although we may not understand all of them, those who “read” these words are “blessed” or “oh how happy”. The believer's enemy Satan does not want people to “read” this book, so he keeps them from it and lies about it's content. Let it be known, “blessed” are the people who “read” these words.

The second blessing mentioned by John is to “they that hear” the words in this book. By simply listening to the words in this book, a person is made to be “oh how happy”. By listening to the reading of this book, reading it out loud or hearing someone “read” this book a person is “blessed”, and those who are wise shall be determine to open their ears and be “blessed”.

The third blessing associated with this book comes to those who “keep those things which are written therein”. Not only are people who “read and hear” the words in this book “blessed”, but also people who “keep” these words are “blessed” as well. God desires to “bless” and make “oh how happy” everyone who “keeps” or “obeys” the words within this “Revelation”, and as we “read, hear and keep them”, we shall be “blessed” as well.

Next time we shall read learn about the three divisions within this book, so read chapter one and verse nineteen, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
