White Head and Hairs and Eyes of Fire Revelation 1:14

John the apostle continued to share the “Revelation” which was given to him by Jesus Christ through an angel, he told how he, “was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last”, and “being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks, and in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.”. In chapter one and verse fourteen of Revelation, John shared, “His head and hairs were white” and “his eyes were as a flame of fire” where we read:

His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;

The verse begins, “His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow;” John began with the words, “His head” which means “the Son of Man's, Jesus' supreme, chief and prominent top of His body” “and his hairs” or “the hairs on Jesus' head” “were white” which means “were light, bright and brilliant from whiteness” “like wool” or “as and though it was like sheep's wool”, “as white as snow” which means “as light, bright and brilliant like the white color of snow”. John saw “the Son of Man's” the brilliant and bright “white” color of Jesus' “head and hair”.

The verse continues, “and his eyes were as a flame of fire;” John added the words, “and his eyes” or “and the Son of Man's or Jesus' eyes used for sight” “were as a flame” which means “were like blazing or flashing” “of fire” or “pertaining to fiery lightning”. John saw the “eyes” of Jesus as though they were like “blazing lightning”.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we can imagine what an ominous sight this must have been for Him. This vision of “The Son of Man” or “Jesus” allowed John to see the “purity and brilliance” of Jesus' “head and hairs”, and He saw the “purifying justice” which was in Jesus' “eyes”. When we put ourselves in John's place, we may find that we are terrified by the site of Jesus, and we may begin to understand how awesome Jesus really is. God Almighty sent His Son Jesus to die for the sins of the world, and those who consider this vision of John should begin to understand how “pure, righteous and Godly” “The Son of Man” truly is.

Next time John shares about the “Son of Man's”, “feet” and His “voice”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
