Seven Stars, A Sharp Two-Edged Sword and Shiny Countenance Revelation 1:16

John the apostle continued to share the “Revelation” which was given to him by Jesus Christ through an angel, and he told how he, “was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last”, and “being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks, and in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters”. In chapter one and verse sixteen of Revelation, John wrote about” “seven stars”, “a sharp two-edged sword” and a “shiny countenance” where we read:

And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword:
and his countenance was as the sun shines in his strength.

The verse begins, “And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword:” John began with the words, “and he had in his right hand” which means “the Son of Man or Jesus held in his place of honor or authority” “seven stars” or “seven stars as strewn over the sky”: “and out of his mouth” which means “and away from, by and through the orifice in the Son of Man or Jesus' face used for speaking” “went” or “departed, came forth, issued and proceeded” “a sharp two-edged sword” which means “a swift, rapid and quick long and broad cutlass or saber with a double edge”. John continued to see features of Jesus who had “seven stars” in His right hand of authority and a “two edged” sword coming out of his “mouth”.

The verse goes on to say, “and his countenance was as the sun shines in his strength.” John continued with the words, “and his countenance” or “and the Son of Man's or Jesus' face, sight, outward appearance and look” “was as the sun” which means “like the rays of the light of the east or day” “shines” or “brings forth into the light, causes to shed light, be bright or resplendent” “in his strength” which refers “in the sun's power, ability and influence”. John also saw the “face or outward appearance” of Jesus which was “bright and resplendent” with light like the “midday sun”.

When we think through John's words in this verse, we see more of the vision of John concerning the “Son of Man” or “Jesus”. John saw “seven stars” in Jesus' right hand; he saw “a two-edged sword” coming out of Jesus' “mouth”, and he saw Jesus' face “shining” like the bright midday “sun”. Each of these characteristics is important to the vision presented to John, and when a person realizes how amazing Jesus is, they should easily submit their lives to Him as “Savior and Lord”. Let all who envision these characteristics of Jesus come to have a personal relationship with Him.

Next time John shares how he, “fell at his feet as dead”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
