A Serpent for Fish Matthew 7:10

Matthew shared how Jesus told His disciples, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?” and in chapter seven and verse ten of his book, Matthew shared how Jesus continued His example to His disciples about their son,“if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent” where we read:

Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?

The verse reads, Or if he ask a fish, ... Matthew began with the words, “or if he” or “of whether the disciple's on” “ask” which means “begs for, craves, desires and requires” “a fish” which means “a fish of the sea”. Jesus presented the question as to who among His disciples when their child “asked” for “fish” would do as He is about to question.

The verse goes on to say, “... will he give him a serpent?” Matthew continued with the words, “will give him” or “will the disciple grant, bestow, deliver and offer” “a serpent” which means “a snake”? Jesus questioned whether the disciples would give their “son” “a snake” when he ask them for a “fish”.

When we consider Matthew's words in this verse, we see how Jesus gave another example of the care the disciples had for their own children, and since this is the way they were, God is all the more caring. God desires a personal relationship with people through His Son Jesus Christ, and when they know the way He cares for them, they shall know that He desires to give them all things that are not only good for them, but will also have an impact for all eternity.

Next time Jesus asks His disciples, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
