God Clothes the Grass of the Field Matthew 6:30

Matthew shared how Jesus told His disciples, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor yet for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are ye not much better than they?” Jesus added, “Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take you thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these”, and in chapter six and verse thirty of his book, Matthew shared how Jesus asked His disciples, “if God clothes the grass of the field … shall he not much more clothe you” where we read:

Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is,

and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

The verse reads, Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, ...” Matthew began with the word, “wherefore” which means “moreover and”, “if God” or “whether the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “so clothe” which means “in this manner and thus put on and en-robe” “the grass” or “the herbage, hay, provender and growing crops” “of the field” which refers to “belonging to the country, piece of land, bit of tillage, farms or neighboring hamlets”, “which to day is” or “that exists and happened this very day”, “and to morrow is” which means “and on the morrow or the next day” “cast” or “thrown, let go and poured” “into the oven” which refers to “a clibanus which is an earthen vessel for baking bread”. Jesus presented the temporary nature of the “grass of the field” to compare God's ability to “clothe” His disciples.

The verse goes on to say, “... shall he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?” Matthew continued with the words, “shall he not” or “will God not” “much more” which means “to a greater degree and by far, more willingly, readily and sooner” “clothe you” or “put on, en-robe and array the disciples”, “O you of little faith” or “O disciples who are incredulous, lacking confidence and trusting too little”? Jesus questioned “the tiny faith” of the disciples as He inquired whether they knew God, the “Heavenly Father”, would provide their “clothing”.

When we meditate upon Matthew's words in this verse, we see how Jesus challenged the “small and tiny faith” of the disciples as He questioned whether they knew God would provide their “clothing”. The “Heavenly Father” will “clothe” His followers when they have need, and as they align themselves with His Son Jesus Christ, they are in the best position for Him to do so. May all who read these words consider what Jesus has said and determine whether they are of “little faith” or “great faith” in the Almighty Creator of the Universe.

Next time Jesus tells His disciples what happens since, take no thought, saying, what shall we eat” and more, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
