Ask Receive; Seek Find and Knock Opened Matthew 7:8

Matthew shared how Jesus told His disciples, Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged: and with what measure you mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why behold you the mote that is in your brother's eye, but consider not the beam that is in your own eye? Jesus continued, “Or how will you say to your brother, Let me pull out the mote out of your eye; and, behold, a beam is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of your own eye; and then shall you see clearly to cast out the mote out of your brother's eye. Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.” Jesus added, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you”, and in chapter seven and verse eight of his book, Matthew shared how Jesus told His disciples the person who, “asks … receives; seeks finds, and knocks … it shall be opened” where we read:

For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks finds;

and to him that knocks it shall be opened.

The verse reads, For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; Matthew began with the word, “for” or “even, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, therefore and verily” “every one that asks” which means “and each, all, the whole and every person who begs, calls for, craves, desires and requires” “receives” or “takes with the hand, lays hold of and carries away”; “and he that seeks” which means “and the person who aims for, finds out by reasoning, demands and craves” “finds” or “learns, discovers, understands and recognizes”. Jesus told His disciples when they “crave and desire”, they shall “lay hold of” those things, and when they “crave and find out by reasoning”, they would “learn, discover and understand”.

The verse goes on to say, and to him that knocks it shall be opened.” Matthew added the words, “and to him” or “and to the person” “that knocks” which means “who raps with a heavy blow” “it shall be opened” or “what they knock upon will be opened up”. Jesus shared how the disciples who “rap with heavy blows” upon something, it shall be “opened up” to them.

When we meditate upon Matthew's words in this verse, we see how these promises are made to “disciples” of Jesus Christ. Disciples of Jesus have “denied themselves, taken up their crosses and followed” Him, and therefore they will “ask, seek and knock” for things that are in keeping with their following Jesus. People who have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ His Son have submitted their lives to His Lordship, and when they “ask, seek and knock” according to His will, they shall “receive, find and have things opened” to them. May all who read these words know and understand the will and way of God Almighty the Heavenly Father.

Next time Jesus asks His disciples to consider what happens to a man, “if his son ask bread, will he give him a stoneand more, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
