Good in the Father's Sight - Matthew 11:26

Matthew the apostle shared how Jesus, “began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not: Woe unto you, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. And you, Capernaum, which are exalted unto heaven, shall be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in you, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for you”, and in chapter eleven and verse twenty-six of his book, Matthew shared how Jesus said, “even so, Father: for so it seemed good” where we read:

Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in your sight.

The verse reads, Even so, Father:” Matthew began with the words, “even so” which means “yes, verily, truly and assuredly”, “Father” which refers to “one whom God has united to himself in the closest bond of love and intimacy, made acquainted with his purposes, appointed to explain and carry out among men the plan of salvation and made to share also in his own divine nature”. Matthew shared how Jesus continued to address His “Father” in Heaven.

The verse continues, for so it seemed good in your sight.” Matthew added the word, “for” which means “because, since and on account that” “so it seemed good” or “in this manner and thus it is become, come into existence and happened” “in your sight” which means “within the Heavenly Father's presence”. Matthew shared how Jesus reaffirmed the idea of God exposing His truth to the “unintelligent” rather than those who are “skilled and have understanding”.

When we consider Matthew's words in this verse, we see how Jesus acknowledged God's desire to share His “good news” of “salvation” with people who are not as “intelligent and skilled” as others. In other words, God wants everyone to know how much He loves them and wants to have a relationship with them through His Son Jesus. Those who are truly wise shall receive His offer of “salvation”, and should there be one who reads these words who believes they are too “intelligent” for these things, perhaps they should read again the words of Jesus who declared it to be “good” in God's “sight” to reveal these things in this manner.

Next time Matthew shares how Jesus proclaims, “no man knows the Son, but the Father”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
