He that Has Ears - Hear - Matthew 11:15

Matthew the apostle shared how Jesus, “Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there has not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force. For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. And if you will receive it, this is Elijah, which was for to come”, and in chapter eleven and verse fifteen of his book, Matthew shared how Jesus has a message to, “he that has ears” where we read:

He that has ears to hear, let him hear.

The verse reads, He that has ears to hear, ...” Matthew began with the words, “he that has” which means “the person who hold, owns and possesses” “ears” or “the faculty of perceiving with the mind, the faculty of understanding and knowing“to hear” which means “to attend to, perceive, understand and consider the sense of what is said”. Matthew shared how Jesus made a declaration and proposal to everyone who has the capacity to “understand and perceive” what He is saying.

The verse goes on to say, “... let him hear.” Matthew continued with the word, “let” which means “allow and permit” “him hear” or “that person whether male or female to attend to, perceive, understand and consider the sense of what is said”. Matthew shared how Jesus wanted the people who could “understand and perceive” what He was declaring to do so.

When we meditate upon Matthew's words in this verse, we see how Jesus gave an open invitation to every person who has the capacity to “understand and perceive” His declarations to engage them. God loves people, and if they will submit their lives to His Son Jesus who has fulfilled scripture after scripture concerning His coming, they shall be “saved”. Should there be a lack for “hearing” and “understanding” of the things which Jesus declared, prayer for help in this area will be beneficial. May all who read these words “know and understand” the lengths to which God has gone that they might live “eternally” with Him.

Next time Matthew shares how Jesus asks, “where-unto shall I liken this generation?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
