Jesus' Mother and Brothers Want to Talk to Him - Matthew 12:47

Matthew the apostle wrote while Jesus, yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.”, and in chapter twelve and verse forty-seven of his book, Matthew shared how someone, “said unto him, Behold, your mother and your brethren stand without” where we read:

Then one said unto him, Behold, your mother and your brethren stand without,

desiring to speak with you.

The verse reads, Then one said unto him, Behold, your mother and your brethren stand without, ... Matthew began with the word, “then” which means “moreover and” “one said” or “a certain person uttered, declared and proclaimed” “unto him” which means “to Jesus”, “behold” or “lo and see” “your mother” which means “Jesus' mother Mary” “and your brethren” or “and Jesus' brothers” “stand without” which means “are standing outside the doors”. Matthew shared how someone told Jesus that His mother and brothers were outside of the place where He was.

The verse continues, ... desiring to speak with you. Matthew continued with the word, “desiring” which means “seeking and demanding” “to speak” or ““to talk and converse” “with you” which means “with Jesus”. Matthew shared how the certain person told Jesus that His mother and brothers wanted to talk with Him. .

When we consider Matthew's words in this verse, we see how there was a messenger among Jesus and the crowd. This person told Jesus that His mother and brothers wanted to “talk with Him”. Jesus knew what He was doing, and He knew His purpose. No one, including Jesus' own mother and brothers, would distract Him from the plan of the Heavenly Father. God desires to have a relationship with every person, and His family is worldwide. By receiving Jesus as a personal “Savior and Lord” a person comes into familial relationship with God, and the promise of eternal life is theirs. May all who read these words receive Jesus today and become a part of the family of God.

Next time Matthew shares how while Jesus asks, “who is my mother? And who are my brethren?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
