In the book of Proverbs Solomon speaking of the woman dressed in the attire of a harlot said, “Hearken unto me now therefore, O you children, and attend to the words of my mouth. Let not your heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths. For she has cast down many wounded: yes, many strong men have been slain by her”, and in chapter seven and verse twenty-seven of Proverbs Solomon said, “her house is the way to hell” where we read,
Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.
The verse begins, “Her house is the way to hell, ...”. Solomon began with the words, “her house” or “her, the woman in the harlot's attire's, dwelling place, habitation and abode” “is the way to hell” which means “exists as the road, journey, habit and manner to the underworld, place of exile and extreme degradation”. Solomon shared how the woman's abode exists as the road to exile and extreme degradation.
The verse continues, “... going down to the chambers of death.” Solomon added the words, “going down” or “descending, declining and sinking” “to the chambers of death” which means “toward the room, parlor and innermost and inward part belonging to hades, ruin, pestilence and dying”. Solomon said the woman's dwelling place descends toward the innermost part of hades and ruin.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon the final result and fate of the young man who succumbed to the seduction of the woman dressed in a harlot's clothing. He was on his way to ruin and destruction, and eventually everyone who sins is destined to physical and spiritual separation from God. God knew this, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and keep us from the fate of eternal separation and destruction from Almighty God.
Next time we begin a new chapter and see Solomon ask, “does not wisdom cry?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
