To Inherit Substance and Treasure - Proverbs 8:21

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said of wisdom, “I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment”, and in chapter eight and verse twenty-one of Proverbs Solomon said, “that I may cause those that love me to inherit substance” where we read,

That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.

The verse begins, “That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; Solomon began with the words, “that I may cause” or “so I, wisdom, might make” those that love me which means “the people who have an affection and appetite towards me, wisdom” “to inherit substance” or “to take possession, acquire or be given an allotment of existence”. Solomon shared how a person who walks in the “wise” ways of God causes them to acquire and possess existence and being.

The verse continues, “and I will fill their treasures.” Solomon added the words, “and I will fill” or “and I, wisdom, shall make full, abundance, accomplished and satisfied” “their treasures” which means “their, the people who love wisdom's, storehouses, supplies of food and drink, armory, cellar and garner”. Solomon said that “wisdom” would also abundantly supply the person who has affection toward it with storehouses of supplies.

When we consider Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how the persons who has great affection for “wisdom” will not only be allotted existence, but they will also have abundant supplies within their storehouses. God desires to bless us, and because He owns everything, He is able to share it with whomever He desires. When we seek His Kingdom and righteousness first in our lives, everything else we need will be supplied. (See Matthew 6:33) God wants a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus who was sent into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and supply all our needs according to His riches in glory. (See Philippians 4:19)

Next time Solomon says, “the LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
