Princes, Nobles and Judges - Proverbs 8:16

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogance, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength. By me kings reign, and princes decree justice”, and in chapter eight and verse sixteen of Proverbs Solomon said, “by me princes rule, and nobles and all the judges” where we read,

By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.

The verse begins, “By me princes rule, and nobles, ... Solomon began with the words, “by me” or “through means of me, wisdom” princes rule which means “royal leaders, chiefs, vassals and officials contend, have power, prevail over and reign”, “and nobles” or “and generous, magnanimous and liberal dignities”. Solomon shared how both “royal leaders and generous dignities” have power and reign by the use of “wisdom”.

The verse goes on to say, “... even all the judges of the earth.” Solomon continued with the words, “even all the judges” or “also and indeed each, every, the whole and everyone of the governors, punishers and ones who decide controversy” “of the earth” which means “belonging to the country, territory, region and world”. Solomon said through the means of “wisdom” every one of the governors and ones who decide controversies within the world perform their duties.

When we meditate upon Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how royal leaders and governors employ “wisdom” when they reign over people. Although some may wonder about the level of “wisdom” certain “rulers” employ, God's “wisdom” is available to everyone when they surrender to His Son Jesus who was crucified on the cross for the sins of the world. When we believe and trust in Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and extend to us His “wisdom” wherever we have been put in positions of authority to rule.

Next time Solomon says, “I love them that love me”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
