In the book of Proverbs Solomon shared how wisdom, “stands in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths. She cries at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors”, and in chapter eight and verse three of Proverbs Solomon how wisdom said, “unto you, O men, I cry” where we read,
Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man.
The verse begins, “Unto you, O men, I call;”. Solomon began with the words, “unto you” or “toward you, wisdom's audience”, “O men” which means “O human beings both male and female”, “I call” or “I, wisdom, utter a loud sound, proclaim, summon, invite, commission and appoint”. Solomon shared how “wisdom” summons everyone.
The verse continues, “and my voice is to the sons of man.” Solomon added the words, “and my voice” or “and my, wisdom's, noise and sound of uttered words” “is to the sons of man” which means “is toward the offspring and progeny belonging to people both male and female”. Solomon said “wisdom's” sound of uttered words is toward all the offspring of people.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how God's “wisdom” is crying out to everyone to partake. God wants all of us to be wise according to His ways because He loves us and knows what is best for our lives. God proved His love toward us by sending His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, and when we yield to Him as “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and continually invite and guide us by His Holy Spirit into wise ways to live in this world and the next.
Next time Solomon says, “O you simple, understand wisdom”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
