Go Tell Jesus' Disciples He is Risen - Matthew 28:7

Matthew the apostle wrote, “In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulcher. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not: for I know that you seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay”, and in chapter twenty-eight and verse seven of his book, Matthew wrote how the angel said, “go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen” where we read:

And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goes before you into Galilee; there shall you see him: lo, I have told you.

The verse reads, “And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; Matthew began words, “and go quickly” which means “and leave and depart speedily and without delay”, “and tell his disciples” or “and speak to Jesus' students, pupils and attendants” “that he is risen” which means “that Jesus is aroused, recalled and resurrected” “from the dead” or “separate and and apart from one that has breathed his last, lifeless, deceased and destitute of life”. Matthew shared how the “angel” instructed the “women” to “depart from” him without delay and share with the “disciples” of Jesus how He is “raised from death unto life”.

The verse continues , and, behold, he goes before you into Galilee; there shall you see him: lo, I have told you.” Matthew added the words, “and, behold” or “and, look, lo and see”, “he goes before you” which means “Jesus proceeds and leads in advance of the disciples” “into Galilee” or “into the name of a region of northern Palestine, bounded on the north by Syria, on the west by Sidon, Tyre, Ptolemais and their territories and the promontory of Carmel, on the south by Samaria and on the east by the Jordan which means circuit”; “there shall you see him” which means “at that place and location the disciples would look at, behold and gaze upon Jesus”: “lo” or “see and behold”, “I have told you” which means “the angel has brought word, spoken and bid the women”. Matthew shared how the “angel” told the “women” that Jesus would precede them to the area of “Galilee” where they would “see” Him again.

When we think through Matthew's words in this verse, can we even begin to imagine the excitement of these women as they heard these words from the “angel”? Jesus was “risen” just like He said, and the women were to leave quickly to “tell” His “disciples” the news. God wants everyone to know, “Jesus is Risen”, and Jesus will meet them wherever they are to become their “Savior and Lord”. Let all who read these words know Jesus died for their “sins” and He is “risen again” so they may have “everlasting life” with God. Hallelujah! Christ is Risen!

Next time Matthew shares how the women, “departed quickly from the sepulcher”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
