Mark wrote, “there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If you will, you can make me clean. And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and said unto him, I will; be clean. And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed”, and in chapter one and verse forty-three of his book, Mark shared how Jesus, “straightly charged him, and forthwith sent him away” where we read:
And he straightly charged him, and forthwith sent him away;
The verse reads, “And he straightly charged him, ...” Mark began with the words, “and he straightly charged him” or “and Jesus sternly and earnestly admonished and enjoined the man who had leprosy”. Mark shared how Jesus “earnestly admonished” the “leprous man”.
The verse continues, “... and forthwith sent him away;” Mark added the words, “and forthwith” which means “and immediately and straightaway” “sent him away” or “dismissed the leprous man”. Mark shared how Jesus dismissed the man with leprosy after he healed him.
When we consider Mark's words in this verse, we see how Jesus was determined to “send away” the man who had “leprosy”. Rather than allow the man to linger where he was, Jesus wanted him to leave. Jesus had a plan, and He knew there would be a great commotion if the “leprous man” stayed. God has a plan for the “salvation” of mankind through His Son Jesus, and when He directs a person's life, it is because He knows what is best for them and His Kingdom. Obedience and submission to Jesus is the best decision for a person who wants to be aligned with God.
Next time Mark shares how Jesus told the man, “see that you say nothing to any man”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
