Mark wrote how, “there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If you will, you can make me clean. And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and said unto him, I will; be clean. And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed. And he straightly charged him, and forthwith sent him away. And said unto him, See you say nothing to any man: but go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.”, and in chapter two and verse one of his book, Mark wrote how Jesus returned, “to Capernaum” where we read:
And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.
The verse reads, “And again he entered into Capernaum after some days;” Mark began with the words, “and again” which means “and anew, further and moreover” “he entered into Capernaum” or “Jesus came into the city of Capernaum which means village of comfort and was a flourishing city of Galilee situated on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee or Lake of Gennesaret near the place where the Jordan flows into the lake” “after some days” which means “when a few days went by”. Mark shared how Jesus returned to “Capernaum” after a few days went by.
The verse continues, “and it was noised that he was in the house.” Mark added the words, “and it was noised” which means “and it was perceived, understood, noticed and comprehended” “that he was in the house” or “that Jesus was within a house in Capernaum”. Mark shared how the word spread that Jesus was within a house in “Capernaum”.
When we meditate upon Mark's words in this verse, we discover how Jesus returned to “Capernaum” which was His base for ministry. People there began to spread the word that Jesus was back, and we can imagine how they desired to see Him again. God loves people, and He sent His Son Jesus to share His “gospel” concerning saving mankind from their sins. Jesus “fame” cause the word of Him to be spread throughout the area, and those who are wise shall tell of Him today. Jesus paid the price for the sins of mankind, and whoever believes and trusts in Him as their “Savior and Lord” shall receive “everlasting life” from God His Father, and this “good news” is to be “noised” throughout the world for all mankind to receive.
Next time Mark shares, “straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
