One Sick of the Palsy - Mark 2:3

Mark wrote, “And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house. And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them”, and in chapter two and verse three of his book, Mark wrote how people brought to Jesus, one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four where we read:

And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.

The verse reads, “And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, ... Mark began with the words, “and they come unto him” which means “and some of the people approached Jesus”, “bringing one sick of the palsy” or “carrying and bringing forth a certain man who was suffering from the relaxing of the nerves of one's side, disabled, weak of limb and a paralytic”. Mark shared how some of the people brought a man who was a “paralytic” to Jesus.

The verse goes on to say, “... which was borne of four.” Mark continued with the words, “which was borne” which means “who was raised up and carried” “of four” or “by four men”. Mark shared how the “paralytic” man was “carried” to Jesus by four other men.

When we meditate upon Mark's words in this verse, we learn of a specific man who was brought to Jesus at this house. The man was carried by four men because he was a “paralytic”, and they believed Jesus could heal him if they brought him to Him. Jesus' reputation was renown, and many desired not only to receive a miracle from Him, but also to hear His teaching. There is opportunity to come to Jesus today, and those who are wise shall not only bring themselves to Jesus, but also carry others who are in need to Him.

Next time Mark shares when the four men could not get in the house, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
